This form of silver is quite popular among many survivalists because the coins that make up bags of junk silver are actually legal United States tender.Junk silver can be purchased in bags of coins composed of either 90% or 40% silver. 90% junk silver is probably acquired more often than 40% silver. 90% silver bags contain worn pre-1965 half-dollars, quarters, and dimes.
